Why tallow?
Tallow is a wildly successful, transformative ancient skincare remedy, used primarily for deep hydration and its anti-inflammatory properties to calm redness, reduce acne & promote healthy, glowing skin! It's non-comedogenic, making it less likely to clog pores, and nutrient-dense, due to its plentiful fatty acids like CLA + stearic acid, antioxidants, bioavailable vitamins, all of which will reverse damage, deeply moisturize & restore our skin barrier.
Tallow is a form of rendered beef fat (aka suet); as its chemical makeup is extremely similar to our own skin’s DNA, its natural compatibility heals our skin on a cellular level & leaves skin hydrated & radiant!
We take pride in sourcing our beef suet from a beautiful, local ranch here in Durango, Colorado. Their grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle live their best lives on a clean diet of grasses and plants, free from hormones, antibiotics, and pesticides. The ranch also practices regenerative farming, ensuring a positive impact on the environment!
To purify the suet, we use a dry-rendering method which involves slowing melting and straining it on its own over multiple days to remove any remaining impurities. *Many other companies choose to use a wet-rendering method that involves salt and water to essentially cleanse the suet to remove any odors; we find this process to be too harsh in that it can potentially strip the tallow of its own natural, nutrient-dense form.
In an effort to strengthen the skin-healing aspects of each product, we blend our tallow with organic, plant-based oils that have been solar-infused with various botanicals for over six weeks The herbs and flowers we use are the highest quality, organic or wild-harvested, and are specifically added for their individual qualities, whether it be for inflammation, restorative antioxidants, or astringent properties to name a few.
